AMADEUS!!!!!!!!!!!

Stunning!
Mesmerising!
Enchanting!
Marvelous!
Unbelievable!
Stupendous!

These are a few, honest words of appreciation that pop up in my mind while describing the movie "Amadeus"! This movie, above all doubts, is a masterpiece! Anybody who loves music, and who knows how to appreciate a genius to the extent of Mozart must definitely watch this movie!

Each and every one of the 8 oscars which it won, are perfectly justifiable. The ingenious usage of Mozart's music throught the movie couldn't have been brought about better.

The movie is all about the life of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, inarguably one of the foremost musical geniuses of all time! The surprising thing is that the movie is a tight package, without unnecessary scenes or drags. It is a perfect blend of fact and fiction indispersed with humour, emotions, and mystery resulting in a stunning marvel of a film!

Each and every actor has played their part to perfection! One wouldn't be surprised as to why Murray Abraham was awarded an oscar for this role! Tom Hulce has also pulled off a stunning performance as Mozart. Mozart was often described in real life as a brash teenager who was immoral. A noble man once said of him "He has the mind of a genius in the body of a fool"!

The Tagline of the movie goes....

"The Man... The Music... The Madness... The Murder... The Motion Picture..."

It stands for everything said above and more. The heart beats ever so subtly with a feeling of warmth and the mind feels thoroughly stimulated albeit remaining calm, while watching the wonderfully choreographed operas which seamlessly blend with the ingenious music!

It is said that listening to classical music increases human intelligence for a small duration of time thereafter...So trust me friends, there's no better way to experience that than by watching this movie!

  • I read the play once, the original, by Peter Schaffer. I was bowled over. I read it in two hours straight without ever putting it down. I can only imagine how fantastic the movie must be. Unfortunately, I have never been able to get a copy of the dvd anywhere in Chennai. :-(
