Favourite Phrases

One of the best phrases that i have come across is an ancient Persian saying ...It goes like this...

"He who knows not, knows not he knows not, is a fool, shun him
He who knows not, knows he knows not, is a child, teach him
He who knows, knows not he knows, is asleep, wake him
He who knows, knows he knows, is wise, follow him."

And another favourite....

"It is better to be hated for what you are, than to be loved for what you aren't."

Aren't they amazing?

  • i believe ur second phrase is quite contreversial...one cannot live one's life for just his own (if u call that selfish) happiness...the only reason we go to work, study etc....is to be loved(of course in most cases we do enjoy it)...and when we want to be loved ,we tend to pretend so as to please....and when we begin pretending the character we are pretending to be soon begins to be part of the real character.....life is a a stage as shakespear put.......noone is born in this world with a predecided character...it is what we pretend to be that finally becomes our character

  • @anon: well arun, i believe thats u! :)...But understand one thing da...One doesnt have to be pretentious about anything. If they dont know something, they should learn. If they dont have a particular habit, they should inculcate it. They must never pose like they do or know stuff that they actually dont! Ultimately, if their cover is blown, there's nothing more embarassing!

  • Hmm i think the first saying goes like this "He who knows not and knows that he knows not is a child; teach him."..

Anyways...Remember socrates...who knows, knows not that he knows, and was still wise....Or maybe he knows, knows that he knows but pretends he knows not..and thus make ppl follow him....

  • @ammu: hehe...visu elaam namme guru dhaan!..Definitely, if someone feels that people should like them, they must genuinely make an effort to change themselves or a particular characteristic that they believe is flawed...Trying to be pretentious never works out in the long run!
